Mucho se ha dicho de la importancia del apego de la madre con el hijo y el contacto de piel con piel. Pero ¿por qué es tan importante este vínculo? Gonzalo Leiva, encargado de la Sala de Atención Integral del Parto del Hospital de la comuna de La Florida de Santiago de Chile, nos cuenta la verdadera importancia de este acto tan importante en la vida de un niño.
“Uno de los indicadores que se promueve desde el año 2008 es que el contacto de piel con piel sea de al menos 30 minutos. Es un indicador que todos los hospitales públicos deben reportar mes a mes para saber cuántos recién nacidos estuvieron piel con piel con su madre”, dice Leiva.
Según explica el especialista hay cuatro pilares fundamentales para que el ser humano tenga un adecuado desarrollo: el útero materno, el pecho materno, la familia y la red social, que somos todos nosotros.
“La preocupación por establecer un buen vínculo debe partir en el útero, en donde su hábitat pasará a ser el pecho materno, y esta evidencia la tenemos a fines de la década del 60. Cuando un bebé nace, durante las primeras 2 horas de vida, se encuentra en un período sensitivo, que es un estrés beneficioso”, señala Leiva.
Además, agrega que en este periodo de tiempo existen altos niveles de hormonas que favorece un adecuado vínculo, producto de la endorfina y oxitocina. Por esta razón, según explica Leiva es importante las primeras horas el bebé ya que “está sincronizándose con su madre, por eso es tan importante el contacto de piel con piel”.
