Un palestino embistió su coche contra un grupo de personas en Cisjordania el jueves por la mañana, matando a un israelí e hiriendo a otro, reportó el ejército de Israel.
El ataque tuvo lugar cerca del asentamiento de Ofra y el agresor fue neutralizado y arrestado, explicó el ejército sin aportar más detalles. El fallecido tenía 20 años, según equipos de rescate. La persona herida, de 19 años, fue evacuada a un hospital.

El incidente se produce tras una oleada de ataques palestinos contra civiles y miembros de las fuerzas de seguridad que comenzó en septiembre de 2015. Aunque hubo rachas de ataques diarios, en los últimos meses disminuyeron.
Por su parte, el grupo terrorista Hamas celebró el ataque, declarando que es una “reacción a los crímenes de la ocupación” y destacaron que la campaña de violencia está en alza.
Desde septiembre de 2015, palestinos mataron a 42 israelíes y a dos estadounidenses que estaban de visita en el país, principalmente en apuñalamientos, balaceras y ataques con coches. Las fuerzas israelíes abatieron a al menos 241 palestinos en el mismo periodo, muchos de ellos identificados como atacantes por las autoridades israelíes.
